CCPA Board

Robert Levin, President of Performing Arts Consultants, brings thirty years of experience to the performing arts in the areas of artist management, orchestra management, public relations, concert presentation and production, special event planning and artistic and performance consulting.

A graduate of The Juilliard School with bachelor and master of music degrees, Mr. Levin was a professional violinist and active chamber musician up until the time he began managing the concert careers of fellow performing artists. He studied violin with Ivan Galamian and Dorothy DeLay at Juilliard, and with Nathan Milstein in Zurich, Switzerland. For several years, he worked in conjunction with established New York concert management firms such as ICM Artists, Columbia Artists Management and Shaw Concerts. In 1979, Mr. Levin formed his own concert management company through which he and his staff managed, promoted and marketed concert artists worldwide and presented concerts in major United States concert halls. He was responsible for launching the careers of violinists Elmar Oliveira, the first and only American violinist to win the coveted Gold Medal in Russia’s Tchaikovsky International Music Competition, and Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, for whom he arranged appearances on The Tonight Show, NBC Nightly News and CBS News. Both artists have gone on to achieve worldwide recognition. Throughout the years, Mr. Levin has managed and presented many other distinguished concert artists, including pianists Stephen Hough, Bella Davidovich, Walter Ponce, Malcolm Frager, Santiago Rodriguez and Jeffrey Siegel; cellists Colin Carr, Ralph Kirshbaum and Stephen Kates; guitarist Eliot Fisk; hornist David Jolley; clarinetist Giora Feidman; conductors Ronald Zollman and Jorge Mester; the Bach Aria Group; and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chamber Players. His current artist roster includes pianist Jorge Federico Osorio; violinist Alena Baeva; cellist Bion Tsang; and hornist/conductor Dale Clevenger.

Mr. Levin has presented numerous concerts in major American venues such as Carnegie Hall, Fisher Hall, Tully Hall and the Tisch Center for the Arts, conducted several highly successful promotional, public relations and executive search campaigns and served as Operations Manager of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He currently resides in Highland Park with his wife Laurie, who is a partner in the law firm of Fox, Hefter, Swibel, Levin and Carroll. His son Daniel is a pre-med sophomore at the University of Illinois in Champaign, and his daughter Rachel will attend Northwestern University’s Weinberg School of Arts and Sciences as a freshman in the fall.
