Robert C. Marks

Robert C. Marks is President Emeritus of Chicago’s Harrington College of Design. He is a Professional Member of the American Society of Interior Designers, the International Interior Design Association and the Interior Design Educators Council, of which he is a founding member. He is also a registered interior designer in the State of Illinois. Mr. Marks has researched and conducted several interior design study tours to Europe and the Orient for practicing interior designers. Travel continues to be one of his great interests in addition to interior design, art, architecture, classic cars, music and opera in particular, as well as collecting oriental antiques. The Marks residence and its collection of Asiatic art have been featured in “Art and Antiques” Magazine. Mr. Marks is a member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Guild Board and board member of the Metropolitan Opera National Council, Central Region, and the Wagner Society of America. He is a member of the University Club of Chicago, the Arts Club of Chicago and the Roll-Royce Owners Club, as well as the Antiquarian Society and the Asian Art Council of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is a benefactor of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, where he has endowed the Robert and Ellen Marks American Opera Chair and the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists, Robert and Ellen Vocal Studies Program Chair. He is a Sustaining member of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Governing Member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
