Barbara Haffner is Associate Principal Cellist of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra. A First Prize winner of the Dealey International Competition, she has appeared as soloist with the Dallas Symphony and the Philadelphia Orchestra where she was also a member of the cello section for seven seasons. She has appeared as soloist with the Elmhurst Symphony, Highland Park Strings, Music of the Baroque and as guest artist with the Vermeer Quartet. Ms. Haffner has been a member of the Aeolian Chamber Players of New York, the Smithsonian’s Twentieth Century Consort in Washington D.C., the Penn Contemporary Players, and is principal cellist of Music of the Baroque and the Chicago Philharmonic. A founding member of the Rembrandt Chamber Players, Ms. Haffner has recorded for CRI, Musical Heritage, Cedille and Columbia Record labels.
