Anne Heider, conductor
The Music Conservatory Faculty

Anne Harrington Heider, Associate Professor of Music and Resident Choral Conductor, joined the CCPA faculty in 1988. She holds a B.A. degree from Wellesley College, an M.A. in musicology from New York University, and a D.M.A. in conducting from Stanford University. Her research in early music has been supported by the Newberry Library, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and Roosevelt University. Her publications include critical editions of 16th-century French psalm settings by Claude Le Jeune (A-R Editions 1989, 1995) and numerous arrangements for chorus of traditional American music.

Major works that she has performed with CCPA ensembles include: Orff, Carmina Burana; Handel, Messiah; Fauré, Requiem; Bernstein, Chichester Psalms; Purcell, Dido and Aeneas; Handel, Judas Maccabaeus; Bach, Magnificat in D major; Bach, Brandenburg Concerto No. 2; Brahms, Ein deutsches Requiem; Brahms, Liebeslieder; Haydn, Lord Nelson Mass; Britten, A Ceremony of Carols.

Dr. Heider is artistic director emerita of the Chicago-based professional chamber choir Bella Voce, with whom she recorded for Centaur Records, Harmonia Mundi, Narada Media, and Cedille Records.

She serves on the board of the national service organization Chorus America and is active as a guest conductor and choral consultant.
