Dionne Hansen-Jackson, flute
The Music Conservatory Faculty

Dionne Hansen-Jackson, Associate Principal Flute of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, has appeared as soloist and chamber musician across the U.S. and Europe performing in such venues as Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, Chicago’s Symphony Center, the United States Embassy in Paris as well as halls in Korea and Japan. She is a First-Prize Winner of the Artists’ International Carnegie Hall Debut Award, Union League of Chicago Competition, Musicians Club of Women, Concours de Lutece (Paris), and Flute Talk and the recipient of several fellowships and grants which include a Fulbright Scholarship, Juilliard Alumni Award, Morse Fellowship, Tanglewood Music Center, and the Harriet Hal Wolley Grant (Paris).

Recent concerto performances include the Madison Chamber Orchestra, Mansfield Symphony, Memphis Chamber Players, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and the Chicago Youth Symphony. Awarded a Performer’s Certificate from Indiana University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Music as a student of Peter Lloyd, Hansen-Jackson also studied with distinguished French flutists Alain Marion and Raymond Guiot at the Paris Conservatory where she won the prestigious first-prize in flute. Subsequently, she went on to earn a MasterÕs Degree from the Juilliard School as a student of Julius Baker. Other former teachers have included Sandra Church, Donald Peck, and Walfrid Kujala. In addition to playing at Lyric she also performs regularly with the Chicago Symphony, Symphony II, The Chicago Chamber Musicians, and Music NOW.
