Dennis Michel, bassoon
The Music Conservatory Faculty

Dennis Michel joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1998 as second bassoon, after serving as Principal Bassoon of both the San Diego Symphony and the San Diego Opera for 17 years. Dennis is an active chamber music performer and a founding member of the Arioso Wind Quintet. He has appeared as soloist with both the San Diego Symphony and the San Diego Chamber Orchestra. Since coming to Chicago, he has performed with the Chicago Pro Musica, the University of Chicago Contemporary Players, and regularly appears as a guest artist with the Chicago Chamber Musicians. His former students hold positions in orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Toronto and Houston symphonies, and the Rochester Philharmonic.
