Audition Requirements
To apply to The Theatre Conservatory, an audition is required. In addition, three letters of recommendation, an essay, and a picture/resume must also be submitted.
In addition, Acting and Musical Theatre applicants can arrange to attend one of our national audition sites, including the Unified auditions (high school seniors) and URTAs (graduate candidates - next class 2010*). All theatre applicants must audition in person, video auditions are not admissible.
If you have any questions, please contact The Theatre Conservatory (312-341-3789).
Undergraduate Degrees
- B.F.A. Acting: Two contrasting monologues from plays. One may be classical, but this is not a requirement. Each piece should be no longer than two minutes. Characters should be close to your age. If you choose an ethnic piece, the contrasting piece should be ethnically non-specific.
- B.F.A. Musical Theatre: Same as above plus one ballad and one up-tempo song. You must sing with a recorded accompaniment. Prepare only a short section from each song, and know that you may be asked to stop in order to remain on schedule. Recordings should not contain any lead vocals. Please select from the standard musical theatre repertoire. Students who audition in Chicago will also take part in a dance workshop.
