Luis Galvez
The Theatre Conservatory Faculty
A native of Lima, Peru, Luis Antonio Galvez-Alcantara has had extensive experience as both artist and teacher. His operatic roles have included Don Jose in Carmen, Rodolfo in La Boheme, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Alfred in Die Fledermaus and various oratorio repertoire sung throughout the United States and his homeland of Peru.
Luis is a founding member and the executive director of the North Shore Opera Hour-Where music and passion meet! This new performance venue is in residence at Christ Church, Winnetka where he is tenor soloist.
Mr. Galvez-Alcantara has received the most distinguished award offered by the Association of Peruvian Institutions in the U.S. and Canada for his excellence and commitment to the Peruvian community as a valuable contributor to promoting cultural diversity. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Chicago College of Performing Arts (then Chicago Musical College) and a Master and Doctor of Arts in Music Education from Rochville University, Sarasota, Florida.
